Integrating Saber Feedback with Linear
With our Linear integration, Saber Feedback will create a Linear issue for each feedback report you receive via your Saber Feedback button.
Each issue includes the feedback details, the browser and device information, and the screenshot, which is uploaded to Linear so it shows up right in the issue.
Linear Integration is a 2 stage process, first you need to enter an API key to authenticate your Linear account:
Linear API key
Required
Enter a personal API key from your Linear account. To create one, open Linear and go to Settings > Security & access > Personal API keys, then click New API key. Give it a name you’ll recognize, such as “Saber Feedback”.
Issues are created as the Linear user who owns the API key, so it’s recommended that you create a dedicated Linear user for the Saber Feedback integration and create the API key for that user. The user must be a member of the team you want issues created in.
Once you’ve entered your API key, click the Save changes button. Saber Feedback checks the key with Linear, and if it’s accepted, you’ll be taken to stage 2:
Title
Required
This allows you to define the title of issues submitted through Saber Feedback. If the title contains {{summary}}, this will be replaced with a summary of the feedback reports description. See Using Dynamic Text with integrations for the other values you can use.
Team
Required
This is a drop down list of teams, retrieved from your Linear account. Simply select the team in which you’d like Saber Feedback to create new issues.
Project
Optional
This is a drop down list of projects that belong to the chosen team. If you choose a project, new issues will be added to it as well as the team. Choose No project to add issues to the team only. Note this list is updated when you choose a team.
Link back
When this is ticked, each issue includes a link to the feedback report in your Saber Feedback control panel.
Test Settings
All integrations include a test button, which allow you to check the options you’ve specified are working correctly. Once you’ve saved your settings, click the Test settings button to send a sample feedback report to your Linear team.
If you change your settings, click Save changes before testing, as the test uses your saved settings.
If issues stop being created
If Linear stops accepting issues, for example because the API key was revoked or the team was deleted, Saber Feedback will make the integration inactive and email you the error from Linear. If the team was deleted, choose a different team, save your settings, and then choose Activate integration from the integration’s menu. If the API key was revoked, disconnect the integration and set it up again with a new API key.
